Location: Tongarra Road, Albion Park

Ravensthorpe was built in 1893 for Doctor Arthur Wigley Bateman and his family. Dr Bateman was the first physician based in Albion Park and his surgery was on the eastern side of the home.

The Bateman’s had eleven children. Their eldest daughter Mary, married John Raftery whose family operated the Commercial Hotel at the Albion Park crossroads. They lived at the hotel for a while before buying Ravensthorpe from the Bateman family in the 1920s.

The Bateman and Raftery families have 7th generation descendants living in Albion Park today.
